WebRTC P2P File Transfer
Two browsers. No server. Pick a role to start.
Open this page on two different browsers or devices, assign one role each.
How it works
WebRTC DataChannels let two browsers open a direct connection — no file ever touches a server. The "offer/answer" handshake is just two short text blobs you copy and paste; once exchanged, data streams browser-to-browser.
- Privacy: Files never leave the direct browser-to-browser path
- Speed: Local-network transfers run at full LAN speed; internet transfers go direct when NAT permits
- Size: No upload limit — files are streamed in 64 KB chunks with flow control
- STUN: Google's public STUN servers are used only to discover your public IP/port for NAT traversal; they never see your files
- Multiple files: Queue any number of files; they send one by one
Requires Chrome, Edge, Firefox, or Safari — WebRTC is widely supported. STUN works for most home/office NATs; TURN relay (not included) is needed for strict symmetric NATs.
